This weekend I am thinking about ordering some coilovers for my 93 240sx. I wanted to know what coilovers have a extrem drop height and are in the range of $?-$1500. I was thinking about geting the TEIN Basic($800)or TEIN flex($1500). Does anyone have these setups on their 240 and how do they perform and how low do they drop the car. What about JIC and APEX coilovers? What I am basicaly trying to achive is maximum drop height (slam the car) for the lowest price. Thanks for the input.

I have the tein flex and so far I'm very happy with them. They're not the stiffiest out there but they're stiff enough for me and I was very happy with them at the autocross. I do a lot of daily driving on crappy roads so a stiffer suspension would probably kill me. Not sure of the exact drop but I know you can drop it enough that you'll just rub your fenders on your wheels like crazy.

yeah if you're wanting to drift you will want to consider stiffness as well, otherwise you'll not get very far when your car leans and the tires rub against the front fenders. I have a tein setup and could drop it pretty nicely. I too am happy with mine, but for daily driving I leave it fairly close to the stock height =p

ya if you are just looking to drop it, then any basic system will work...i have tanabe's and i drive them hard and they are awesome...pretty low drop. but the basic ones will just have height adjustment. other than that, the more expensive ones have dampening adj. just more money if you arent going to use it.

Hey man thanks for the input. Where did you get your TEIN flex and how much did they cost you? Are they worth the $1500. How low is the setup on your car?

I have some HE's that got the car pretty low but that was on the stock tire size of 205/60/15. If you had a xxx/40/xx or so depending on your wheel size you could get it pretty slammed. The HE's are too stiff for driving around in many downtown areas imho...if you love your car and don't want to see it get shook apart over a few years of pothole jumping.

What are your goals/uses for your car? Do you simply want a nice look, are you trying to get that as well as more tuning ability (camber, bound and rebound settings aka dampening), I keep thinking from your name you are into drifting, there is more than ride height/center of gravity to think about if you want a suspension that will help maximize your car's high performance cornering potential. I don't know everything about the stuff, but it's good to be aware yanno. So, what do you think you'll use the car for?

I have the HE's and mine is pretty slammed, guess I like driving on it like that and on dampening I have it set on 3. Kinda stiff coilovers, 8/6 spring rate, but dampening can change how they feel a good bit, if you like drifting , these are the way to go. 1299 I believe on p2m. Check it out, look for different prices, good for auto x too as long as you keep the dampening levels low.........want pics?

I run 205/45/16s in the back and my fenderwell is pretty close to the tire, doesnt quite touch, and btw, mine in the back are as far down as the can go. It wont turn(it being the bottom of the coilover) any more....they are being discontinued btw, so get them now at a awesome price b4 they are all gone.

On my 93 240sx I cut the stock springs and it droped the car pretty low. I cut about half of the springs on front and back and you cant even put your finger between the fenders and the tires. Ill try to post a pic later. The problem is that since 240s are a little heavy it bounces really hard and the ride sucks but damn it looks clean slammed. I occasionaly do some drifting but I am more interested in a low ride height and looks. I know the coil overs will help with the heavy bouncing.

please don't do that ..... that is unsafe and not reliable.. and i know all to well about being broke... but would rather be safe though..

Sounds like performance driving isn't your main interest, b/c that would mean a stiffer setup could help your speeds. But you aren't interested in bouncing all over town (not fun I know lol)

I don't even think you'd need coilovers or adjustables for your main purpose. I have only looked into coilovers...but doesn't KYB or Tokico have something that will fit your needs? (sorry i can't make a definite recommendation)
