Getting back in the import game after an 6 year hiatus with a UKDM 200sx turbo and I need some help choosing coilovers. Last time I messed around with modifying Japanese cars, coilovers were priced for race teams only and things have changed so much since I last looked that searching only has me more confused with all the new names. It used to be HKS/Greddy or nothing last time I knew anything about this, there has to be more out there now.

I am looking for coilovers that are adjustable in both height and dampening, for less than $1200 USD. Ride comfort is more important than handling (so long as it doesn't make it handle worse than stock) and it doesn't need extreme lowering, I don't plan on dropping more than 1" with 17s. This car will probably never see a track while I own it, I just want to improve the looks and take whatever handling improvements come with it. This car is a daily driver, and I am not an addicted modifier/horsepower freak/ricer so nothing that has lights, needs electrical power, or requires its own fuel supply.

While I am at it, is there any difference in the UKDM RHD/SR20DET and the USDM LHD/KA24DE as far as suspension goes? I don't see why there would be, nor did my searching show any significant concerns but since most people on here seem to have swapped out engines rather than the OEM SR20 arrangement I don't know that it would have ever come up. Thanks!

if your not gonna track it, only want 1 inch drop, and want a comfortable ride, why not get a good springs strut combo and save yourself some cash????

I'd rather have adjustable height and damping than the extra $300 a set of Konis and Pro Kits would save me.

You could get Koni's and Ground control sleeves. That would allow ride height adjustment, and shock tuning, Not sure if the 200 have the same PITA push and twist on the rear as the 240 or not. Imho that is the only down side to the Koni's.

This what I have on the Yata, but I have adjusters at the top off all four shocks.

so, do you actually live in the UK?

I'd be more concerned on what coilovers are available in your area, lol. I mean, I know the higher end coilovers are pretty much the same as far as availability (zeal, hks, etc.)... but like, I have no clue on what cheaper coilovers are available in UK.

If I were to recommend you a decently functional entry level coilovers at a really decent (below $1200US, hell, maybe even under $1000US)... I'd say go for Kbee coilovers. They're very comforable with very streetable spring rates (iirc, 7/5kg front/back). They're at megan prices, but without the wack valving, imo.

too bad there aren't any shops in US that carries them... I'd say those would sell better than Megans since their price is comparable.

I just put on my Stance GR+ Coilovers today and I have say they are pretty comfortable. Performance is great and they only cost about 1200 depending on where you get it from. Enjukuracing helped me out with a set for under 1200. Great drift setup too if u want to get into that.
