Ok guys, I finally found some coilovers for the Z. Meaning I'll stop annoying you guys with the constant questions about them, lol. But before that, I want to get a last few out.

*The set I found are Greddy Type S, what are your opinions on these, has anyone had any experience?

*What should I look out for in buying a used set of coilovers? I already asked about mileage, waiting for a response. He says they're in good condition (not blown, mounts are good, etc.)

*The price that they're being offered for is good, but I could get a new set of D2 RS's for about $150 bucks more, is it worth it?

I'm buying these as my first major mod to my car. I went to the track last month and noticed that I could use some serious upgrading in the handling department (significant body roll and the car felt like it was barely holding the corners with fairly new tires). Chances are the car is still on 20 year old suspension. Haven't actually looked (I know, lazy).

*Basically, do you agree that this is probably a good first choice mod if I'm going to the track again soon?

Any feedback is appreciated, thanks!

IMHO, unless the current struts are blown, I'd look toward sway bars as a first mod. They significantly reduce body roll. Then I'd consider coilovers. Powertrix makes a great set and does group buys fairly often. The D2 RS I don't know much about admittedly, but I'd research feedback on them.

Well, if I can find a decently priced sway I can technically afford both. I'm focusing on coilovers because my next addition will be wheels and tires, and I want to already have adjustability! :)

With sways, I know every car responds a little differently. Would you recommend back, front, or both? I drive daily and just take it to the track occasionally, so I don't want it to be CRAZY stiff.

a tt rear sway bar is a nice upgrade for a n/a and probably all you really need, the 2+2's front is bigger than the others as well if you wanted to do something up front. but then you have stillen sway bar's or suspension techniques as options as well which are adjustable. As far as coilovers i would avoid the D2, megan, ksport etc. I have never heard of greddy coilovers for our car's so cant comment on them.

Thank you Z-owed, your Z is an inspiration to us all! lol. (joking, but not joking).

Seriously though, thanks man. I just found some Stillen stuff and was glancing at it. I'm starting to think I might go with the Greddy's, if the miles are low. Maybe I can do a write-up of them on here! :)

I feel like Greddy is a reputable enough brand to take the risk.

Ok, I went ahead and purchased the coilovers. Decided to go with the tried and true Powertrix. Also grabbed up the full Stillen sway kit with sway links. So I should be turning corners with the best of them soon! I'm excited about my first mods to my Z!

Wise choice, and excellent buy with everything you got. You did get all of the adjustable tension rods/FUCA/RUCA bits as well?

I was thinking of holding off on that until I got new wheels and tires. I'm not going to be adjusting my camber until then. I'm actually not going to be lowering much until then either. Somewhere in between half an inch to an inch. Should I go ahead and pick them up?

Oh, are you talking about my wheel fitment post? If so, I've had other things milk out some of my funds originally planned for my Z... I'm going to have to wait until after I get a refund from my school until I can fit wheels under it.

Thread HIJACK

I plan on going for the powertrix coils when I get some money. I have other problems though my suspension is sqeaky every little tiny bump it squeaks. I don't know what to replace. I read its common thing on a 20 yer old z and that its better to replace parts than to change the bushings which is what I think is going to remedy it.

So can you guys tell me if you had this problem aand what parts im going to need to stop the sqeaks. :gotme

Hood hinge. WD-40. Seriously.

Chase, you won't be disappointed with Powertrix. I promise. The build quality is awesome.

Yes, mostly because you can get the GB pricing for those pieces as well from Charles, and also because any lowering at all will cause camber changes and issues with tire wear.
It's just the best way to go to do it all at once rather than having to go back in and tear it all apart to put in the adjustable bits.

Eh, I'm not too concerned with tire wear. The tires are relatively new and are going to be replaced when I get new wheels anyways. I shouldn't expect more than -.5 front to -.75 rear degree change in camber with my ride height adjustments. I don't feel like I'll get too much inside wear with that amount. If I'm wrong correct me! lol I'm by no means an expert!

Also, I may not be able to be part of the group buy from powertrix, I'm on a time crunch for the sways and coils. (Need to have them installed by Mar 2nd). I just got an email today from Charles and I asked if would be able to get the GB price in that time frame, haven't heard back yet. If I can and can save that money then I might look into it.

Seriously you can't go wrong with Powertrix coilovers, I have the Race set and they are great.

And check out the UL as well. Good for both setups.
