Colin, get the Powered By MAX, then trade me for my Megans.
haha no.

well my neighbor got a price check on the Greddy's and the manager told him 40% off sooo 1,000 + tax
mrgreeneyes wrote:Powered By Max are only "too stiff" to the people who dont have em.

Mine are fine, they are veeeery beefy, yet totally daily-able (my car is my daily). 10-8 spring rate is PERFECT and the valving on these is superb. i have owned ksports and they failed horribly in the first 4 months i owned them. 2 damper seals exploded... leaving my fenderwells soaked in ****ty ksport oils. and they rode like *** compared to the PBM's i have now.

the nay-sayers to PBM are the people who dont yet own them, or have girly vag's and dont want coils cus "they are too stiff... i like comfort... wahhh"
well the guy at machine tune was telling me that he just put some Powered By MAX on a car he was fixing and he told me that he thought they were to stiff and would be a better choice to go with HKS or Greddy.
ChampaignSilviaS14 wrote:I run powered by max daily driving and its not bad at all on full soft....

its really not that bad, and the roads here are horrible.

I would suggest PBM, they are extremely beefy and can go extremely low, and for the price you really cant beat it.
well my driveway is literally a bumper killer at a 45 degree angle. also im not going to be parking on the street since my neighbors car got stolen and would not like my car to be stolen anytime soon.
S14toRPS13 wrote:I love it how people who hasn't heard of Stance, KTS, Endura Techs or Powered by max always recommend Tein basics. Does your neighbor realize how more you get with these other brands for a couple hundreds more over Tein basics? I think it's just because Tein is more of a household name than these other companies.
well he was just saying if i wanted nice comfortable ride then it would be best to go with the basics with OE strut/shock mounts.

i wish i could but if i can't get up my driveway then i'll be to low, but if i find a way that i can be low but also go up my driveway then i would. this is without using the ramps i've built for how the car is now.

I thought I was all hot with a set JIC magic FLA 2's but I learned not to believe the JDM hypeness. JDM coils have habitual engineering flaws...

he touches all the major brands, a great track/scca resource.

his list is as follows and he explains why. they are inexpensive relatively but they're for more hardcore track cars.

* Bilstein* Penske* Koni* Ohlins* Sachs* Dynamic Suspension

read the article.
these companies definitely make some of the best suspension around but wayyyy out of anybodies price range.. lol oh dont forget to add Moton to that list

i have megan streets for like a month and half now and they're decent. i just don't like the dampening but i can't really compare since i never drove another brand coils in a 240 before. my friends that have tein in their tsx it rides like stock but might be b/c the car is different to begin with...

since mine is a DD i wish i got something that was a little smoother on bumpy nyc roads. i have mine on softest setting too...

Okay, so you want coilovers but you dont want a stiff ride and your driveway is too steep...

Any set of coilovers are going to be stiffer than stock.

If you want to go lower then you have to realize thats what you get, and I cant help you with your driveway man, mines flat.

If it helps you I cant fit a jack under my car so dont feel bad.

You get a smaller jack.'3" minimum height'http://www.harborfreight.com/c...91039

(I wouldn't actually use anything from harbor freight on something I cared about, it's just an example.) If your car has less then 3" clearance first off I applaud you. Then you have to do something like drive up on a 2x4 and then jack it up.Or drive up on a 2x4 and then a ramp and then jack it up..

i want a stiff ride but nothing that will kill my kidneys. my driveway sucks, my old coupe was still scrapping and it was heightened by like half an inch...

no i've thought about them but im going with the Greddy's...

anything smaller??? or well i can just get some wood and drive up them and then put the jack under my car...

I guess i'll go low and use the ramps i've built. i'd rather not though not practical... OH WELL.

From what I hear, Tein Flexes are the most comfortable coilovers due to the spring rates being 6/5. I have JIC FLT A2's and AGX/H&R on my two S14's and IMO I like the way my coilovers feel better than the spring/shocks. Yes, the shock/springs are very comfortable but each time I ride into the one with the coilovers I love how it handles the corners with no body roll at all. For my next set of coilovers, I'll probably go with PBM or BC Racing since I've heard good things about them too.

Go with Koni yellows with ground control coilover kit. You can get whatever spring rates you desire. With the springs lengths they recommend (5.25" up front, 7" rear), right height is right were you would want it going up your driveway. A 350lb spring up front and 300lbs spring in the rear (~6kg/mm and 5kg/mm) would give you a very comfortable ride and decent performance.

The ride quality with the konis will be twice as good as most of the $1000 coilover setups out there.

You have to be willing to do some work though (cutting up stock front housings).

Best bang for your buck is a tie between Powered By Max and Stance GR+ Pro. I'd lean towards PBM, though. Another great coilover if you can save your money longer is the JIC FLT-A2. I use them on my car and they're BANGIN compared to the cheap stuff. Plus, I've been told they rebuild them here in the states.
