heyas,

this seems like such a redundant question, but i am about to buy a set of coilovers, specifically JIC FLT-A2, and i asked around for install prices, one shop told me $200, another shop i went to didnt have a definite answer until they looked at the kit, but they said 200 sounded low.

so im thinking i might as well put them on myself, then drive it down the road for an alignment. is this something that i could do? ive heard that coilovers come with some type of instructions, what kind of tools are involved? do any of the nuts need to be torqued on? i guess all i need is someone who has done it before to give me the go ahead, any help is appreciated, thanks a lot =)

if you get the flt-a2 then they will probably be preassembled with the pillowball mounts and all. It should be as simple as unbolting the 3 strut top bolts and the 2 bottom ones. As for adjusting, my teins had a recommended measurement in the instructions. Google is your friend. Here are some links that i found that might help you out. If you dont need to assemble your coilovers or transfer your stock strut tops, then those steps wont pertain to you. Definitely put them on yourself. It should be much easier than installing a separate shock/lowering spring combo, and that's really not rocket science either.

You can take that extra $200 and put it towards some nice sway bars! :D

i agree wit badmojo....i put on tein HE's on my 95 240sx, it was relatively easy.....to install, pretty much straight forward: the front; 3 upper bolts,1 on the knuckle and brake clip... the back; 2 up top and 1 at the bottom...follow the torque specs from the fsm.....then comes the really work of adjusting height...i spent about a good hour getting it just right....

if you dont need to use your stock upper mounts, then you dont need to take the old springs off. Im not sure how the flt-a2 is but my HE coilovers came preassembled. Since it came with pillowball mounts, i didnt need to take apart my old springs to get reuse the tops. Just take out the whole stock shock/spring assembly and put the coilovers on. Here is an instruction manual for the Tein HE. I know its not what you have, but its in english and might help on the install.
