I personally own tein flex, non monotube version, and they have served me pretty well. Even though they aren't as aggressive as the 8kf/6kr setup, they're much more manageable on the bumpy roads and still competitive. But if your serious about going on the winding roads and road racing, i would recommend steering your attention away from tein flex, which are the 6kf/5kr set up.

Since you also live in CA you should be familiar with the bumpy highway surfaces like 880, 1 ect.
