I did a quick search and came up with a little bit of info.I dont like the search feature --i typed in NEX coilovers and came back with one result :(

Anyway--

I saw the NEX coilovers on ebay, and while i recognize that they are not the same level as tein , jic, buddy club, spl, and etc., they are a good price, and seem to be functional enough for my everyday car. It never sees track days, and occasional drag (only fo run every now and then). I like long highway streches, and mountain roads rather than the 12 second sprint downt he 1/4.

My question is--since these arent dampening adjustable, does anyone have experience with them enough to give me some good feedback on them? How do they feel in terms of the following compared to a tein or other brand name coilover without damping adj.?Ride quality? Harsh ride? soft ride? just right firm ride?Hows the handling? Any rear end squat? Level of body roll?I would go with the sportline/agx coombo( i already have sprotlines and tokico blues), but the agx's I have heard have a hard time not blowing out after a while, and the sportlines are just about a quarter higher than id like the car to be.

NEX coilovers---are they worth it?

-Josh

P.S---yes--i know I could save upa nd spend like 300 bucks more and get another brand--but I dont want to--i want to learna bout these:)

Chet, Alan?

Ebay parts are not my forte' if you will. You have many questions to be answered, so I hope one of my fellow mods can assist you.

My first instinct is to tell you to save up until you can buy a proven product, because cheap still does not equal better quality or longer lasting. I say, since they're priced below the big brands, you're not out that much cash to begin with, just get 'em and let us know how they fair in all areas you mentioned?

I don't have any experiences with these but I did a quick search in Google & found the following link.

These guys appear to be the ebay seller? Good luck & write a review. ;)

ill check it out. The honda community has used them on a couple of forums and seem to have good things to say about them. BUt what good handling is to a honda driver, is most likely not the same thing to a 240 driver. Just to say this--i dont believe them to be "no name", but rather "less known" especially in the nissan/240 community. Nex makes racing seats that, for the money, preform VERY well, and hold up and with good styling to boot.

I would love to be the guy to get them and do a write up, but im REALLY not wanting to take the dive on somehting as expensive as 600 bucks and find them to be less than what Im looking for.

Who knows though. All id need to know is the rates to be able to tell if they were what im looking for in a coilover.

I emailed the place that sells them. The front spring rates are 560kg/mm and the rears are 450kg/mm. He sid they have great handling, but had no info on the dampening(which makes sense since they arent adj.). Are these spring rates good for a street car/weekend corner carver? I dont do auto-x or drag alot--mostly highways, mountian runs, curvy country backroads that i go as fast as i can:)as long as it doesnt bounce and i see an improvement over the tokico/sportline combo i have now--im good.

I think you me an 560 lb/in and 450 lb/in. 560 kg/mm ~ 31,400 lb/in

The equivalent in metric is 10/8 kg/mm.

I have 9/7 K-Sports and I personally would not want something this stiff on a daily driver. I think 7/5 would be a better place to look. Small bumps are not so much a problem as large dips. There is a place on the highway that I swear the car gets airborne at 60mph because the springs are so stiff.

Well--ill need to check the email I have again. I believe it said something like kg/mm or something like that. But you are right, i could have been wrong, or they could have mistyped. So anyway--what you are saying, is that these might be too stiff?

Hmm--even more info--ill keep looking on them...

The 10/8--that is pretty stiff, but since these might not be as hard dampening wise, the shocks may have a little more give, or be better suited to the spring rates. Maybe i just need to buy them and check em out.

I think that 10/8 - no matter what the damping of the shocks - is going to be quite stiff.

If you don't have a problem with that, then yea, you could daily drive them. I for one would want something a bit softer though.

PS: I also, wouldnt try and daily drive anything over a 8/6 setup. its overkill, even a light track car doesnt need that much spring rate. every bump you hit you'll be upsetting your chassis..and thusly, your grip.

To answer your question the NEX are great for your type of application. They are adj rebound and compression which is good for high-speed driving and back roads.....etc..... Best part is they are height adj (the shock body can be moved higher or lower ), and you can increase the spring tension when needed.

I think 3-4 turns to increase spring tension is just perfect.

BUT for that price why not pay a few bucks more and get TEIN, because shocks will need to be rebuilt someday and why not at your friendly US TEIN instead of overseas in TAIWAN?
