ok, im thinking about purchasing some coilovers for my s-13. and im trying to decide on three different ones and i would like some feed back. the ones im looking at are:

JIC FLT-A2

Tein Type Flex

Tein Type HE

keep in mind my 240 is a daily driver but i am going to want to be able to do autocross or drifting every once in a while.

the flex are a little soft for drifting, id say go with the he or jic, they are both very good

If you're doing mostly daily driving, then the Flex is the best option, that's what I have, Set it on the stiffest setting and you'll be able to auto cross and drift just fine... although it may not be stiff enough such as the HE's and the JIC's. The Flex's work great as for everyday driving, it's still rough at first but you'll get used to it. HE's and JIC's will be stiff, even at their softest setting so if you do more driving then you do racing, say 90% driving and 10% drift/auto, then Flex is the way to go, if you do 10% driving and 90% drifting/auto, then HE's or JIC's. I'd stick with Teins though coz when the time comes to rebuild, you can have it rebuilt in the USA where as JIC's possibly needs to be shipped back to Japan. If I was you, I'd go with flex, it's a great coilover system, I know I love mine to death, wouldn't trade it for anything else.

There's always Zeal for coilovers. They've got a lifetime warranty if you get them from a legit dealer which has basic overhauls. If you blow em, then they're $100 for a full rebuild a side and turn around is 3 days. But the cost of the systems are pretty high unless you get the B2's or B6's.

The FLEX system is good for the street. Stiff enough for the street at 280/224 lbs/inch while the HE's are 447/335. The JIC's are what 8kg/6kg? If you're going with JIC then you might as well try GP Sports for drift as those are 9/7 and they're just rebadged Kei Office XR's.

Tein's are rebuildable in the USA, isn't their office in So. Cal? The JIC's aren't. I remember a while back, the JIC's would blow really quickly on the street. Although, I think they've fixed that.

The FLEX's will be fine for drifting. It's not like you're a pro drifter or anything so it's not like you'd need anything as stiff as the HE's.

Dunno why the FLEX's are more expensive than the HE's. Perhaps the teflon coating? Dunno.

Spring rates converted: The HE's are 8kg/6kg and the FLEX's are 5kg/4kg

you could probably have tein make you new springs with different spring rates. don't see why they wouldn't.

I have the HE's and I have no complaints about them on the road. My female passengers might whine a little bit, but it's my car and I don't mind them at all.

I have 17X7 wheels right now. I can't find the offset of the wheels though.

i'd say go with those expensive *** JIC's. they adjust like crazy. :)

but the HE's would be just a little softer. and you can adjust those.
