I was wondering what kind of coilover anyone can recommend. What is a good quality brand, without being too expensive?

Haha, those two things don't usually go together, especially when talking about suspension components. You want quality and time proven durability, go with JIC, Cusco, Tein, etc. If you want cheap, go with D2, or K-Sport (the quality seems decent, but they haven't been out long enough to be sure). The new SPL coilovers seem to be very high quality too, they just haven't been out very long. If you want to go really cheap, you can go with something like Ground Control with some decent shocks.

nizmo_freak at spl parts has great deals on coilovers and someone did a review on it compared against the tein he's.

for $500-600 you can get a spring/shock set up. for $1000-$1500 you can get some good coilovers

D2/KSport are low end coilovers. I am interested in seeing how long they last for people. Tein is about the best entry level coilover, but most people get them because of their marketing. JIC is a great low end brand to get, and Cusco is AWESOME but getting more serious, as is Zeal. If you want to get serious, start looking for Aragosta and the like.

But for under $1500, my money is with SPL. Then it would be JIC FLT-A2s. Avoid Tein HEs....overdone and really not that awesome IMHO.

Mike Kojima, and a friend of his that is a Nissan suspension engineer both liked the results of our coilover's dyno testing.

I stand by our SPL/KTS coilovers 100%.

I will let everyone know how Kei Office is as of next week. My XT's (originally ordered XT-alphas which have a helper springs in the rear... but the order got messed up and that's one big 2 month messy story). My only comparison will be FLT-A2's... so I'll let you know how they compare.

I'm interested to see how people like the SPL coilovers... I've had great customer service and a great product when I ordered a part from them in the past, so I expect great things!

Depends on what you want to do with your car. I'll only be daily driving, and since my shocks needed replacing anyway, I just bought some Tein Basics for $756 shipped (height adjustable, but not damper adjustable).

The only thing is that you would either have to use your stock strut mounts or get some new/different ones. I bought some Tein adjustable camber plates (which replace the upper mount) because I needed some new upper mounts anyway.
