coil wiring

I was having problems with my car running horribly, wouldnt idle well, revved bad. Ran on 3 cyl. first coil didnt seem to be making a difference when i took it out. Now the car wont start. plugs are getting gas, coils are firing. wont start. WTF!?! Also, i took the coil pack wiring off, and the plug(from car/harness) has 5 wires, coilpack wiring has 6, that normal? any help is appreciated. This things a pain.
