I have one bad coil spring on the front driver side. Can I just replace the one or will I have problems? This is an 01 QX4 with about 120k.

How did one coil spring go bad?? Have you checked to ensure that the spring is properly seated in its perch on the strut? Just replacing one spring would probably be fine, but if it were my car, i'd at least replace both fronts, and do the struts if they haven't been replaced (it's all going to be taken apart anyways)

I have to agree with Fueler on this one.Six years old with that many miles, you'd be better off replacing both sides, struts and all.

Thanks for the input guys.

Both struts were replaced less than 20k ago. The Coil was broken very low (right about where it comes into contact with the strut). I ended up only replacing the one spring because I had taken a day off work to do it and I couldn't get another one in time. I am going to get it in for an alingment and new tires soon so I'll see if they notice any issues.

Now I need to start shopping for tires.

Let us know what tires you buy.I'm due pretty soon, and I can't make up my mind.I have Goodyear Wranglers at the moment, and although they are a nice riding highway tire, they suck in the rain and snow.

I think I may have settled on Firestone Destination M/Ts. The claim is they're decent on the highway, good in snow, and good in mud. The only thing is, I don't believe you can buy anything smaller than a 31 (which is okay with me).

I dunno.
