I have a set of coil packs that had one (or more) that were failing intermittently. I had another set that I replaced them with that works for now, but these things are also pretty old.

Anyway, I have a couple of questions.

1) Since the problem was intermittent, is there any way I can test them off of the car? I know I can put them on the engine and test them, but as I said, they didn't always fail right away so it's hard to track down.

2) I read that CA18DE coil packs will work. Is this true?

Thanks,

Darian

Have you given any consideration to doing a lsx coil conversion? In my opinion thats the best way to go for coils.

That sounds interesting. Do you have a link on how to do it? I might be a nice winter project.

Thanks

Get new ones. Leave the cover off and let them breathe. I know it looks like steamed a**, but cooking them is no good.

How could those look like steamed a**? They are red! Well, I assume a steamed a** would probably be red too, I was just implying that the red coils look better than the stock ones.... you know what, never mind.

It looks too busy without the cover.

Alas it does not. I am eagerly awaiting my first paycheck after college, but its going to take a lot more than that to get my little car back on the road. Did you know titanium connecting rods are $1000/ea?! Thats gonna take like, soooo much saving!

Here is a write up for a RB, it is essentially the same process for the CA. Just wire colors will be different.

Looks like there's some tuning involved. Is this absolutely necessary?

Yeah man, I am currently enjoying (not enjoying) the glamorous (not glamorous) world of unpaid internships. Please kill me quickly and end my suffering. I have been promised a few thousand dollars before Christmas, so here's hoping. If I don't get paid I might have to burn this mother down.
