While replacing my spark plugs I was presented with 3 disintegrated harness connectors (coil pack). I believe this may have been my problem of which is stated in a previous post. I have yet to thoroughly research the availability of these as individual splice-able items, but previous experience has been that the dealer requires you to purchase a complete harness. Is there any one in this kind forum that has a line on some of these or perhaps has an idea of what I should do?

Thanks,

Boudreaux

As brittle as those get, I think I would go with a new OEM Subharness. Mine were brittle even in 1997, so add another 10 years baking under those covers, and you get... well, what you have now.

I don't remember them being particularly expensive, but I can't find them on Infiniti of Scottsdale's web site. I would call Joe tomorrow and find out.

On 90-95 Q I would replace both side harness at least every 10 years 150k.....especially in the South and warm climates.........the plastic just won't hols up to excessive heat.

Yeah, that could sure cause a major miss, heheh.

I suspect you've found your problem from this thread:

Kudos to Q451990 for mentioning coil packs.

Just to clarify, we're talking about the connectors on the sub-harness that feeds the coil packs, not the connectors on the coils themselves - right?

This is the plug/connector that inserts directly into the coil pack. It has three female connectors which push onto the three male pins of the coil.

If I could figure out how to post a picture with this comment it would be nice. How in the world do you insert an image? The image button gives me [IMG][/IMG]. What do I do with this???

You have to host the picture somewhere else... like http://www.q45.org

Then make a note of it's web address, and put it between the image tags [img][/img] and it will appear in the post.

Why would you not buy new replacement harness from Nissan............over the years nothing but trouble with repaired harnesses...............even the MAF connector after a mechanical fix.

Few of us can do NASA quality repairs and even on those/they seem to have problems .........brand new brand new never exposed to excess heat or cold.

I think what you did wrong is you have to right click on the full size image (not a thumbnail) and copy the properties to the post.

Wow... those do look nice and crunchy. Have you ordered a replacement subharness yet? If so, do you mind telling us the cost?

Thanks!

This is a more detailed explination of what Mike wrote:

You put "http://q45.org/gallery/v/BOUDREAUX/IMG_0686.JPG.html" between the image tags. This is the ling to the web page of your picture.

This is the location of the image is "http://q45.org/gallery/d/5132-2/IMG_0686.JPG" This is the correct link to put between the img tags

I just recently did this myself.

No need for the concern my friend. The beauty of this repair is that I am an engineer with a premier cable/harness manufacturer. My only issue is that Packard/Delphi no longer make this connector. Once I get my hands on the connectors I can reproduce the harness as if it were new.

Ahh... now you tell us! Much better than the hack job we all envisioned with butt splices and electrical tape

If all you need is the connectors and have everything else including new pins then......I've got a set with brittle wires but completely intact connectors. Email me if you're interested.

I picked up a set of 8 connectors at the local Pick-N-Pull for $6. It was easy enough to disassemble them and insert my exsisting contacts and sensor into them. No splicing! All is good.
