What are the pro's, cons and overall differences between coil overs and springs only?
I have Eiback springs coming and am now wondering if I should just do coil overs.
I know it will be considerablly more expensive though.
I could always get a refund on the springs and wait until next summer to do coil overs.
I'm not familiar at all with coil overs.
Hmmm... Are there even coil overs available for the G37X sedan?

I know we have some suspension gurus here...but you generally get what you pay for. I'm sure others will chime in.

Do a search and I'm sure you'll find everything you ever wanted to know about it!

With springs you get what you get. Granted, you can upgrade the shocks as well to ones with damping control but you are limited to what comes with the kit, including ride height. Coilovers allow for more adjustment options from a height perspective and even from a spring rate perspective (I have both 10k and 8k springs for my rears). They do cost 4x+ what simple springs cost.

I'm not sure about springs for a X model from an availability perspective, a quick search should help determine who sells what. I did see someone the other day install 370z front springs on a X which resulted in a 1" drop, he also installed 2008 G35s springs (from a sport sedan) on the rear which gave him a .5" drop at that end (he may have cut the rubber mount down for that amount of drop and used the S-springs for increased spring rate...I don't remember at the moment).

I have Eibach springs on my G Vert. For the price, compared to coil overs, I am happy with the drop and the handling. However, sometime down the road, I would like to get coil overs. I know someone with my exact G and he was not happy with the suspension/handling. He installed coil overs and said now the car handles great...huge difference.

I just did the springs (Eibach) on my car and I'm very happy with the ride height and increase in handling. Since my buddy has a lift I was able to DIY the install fairly quickly, and it was the best $200 I've ever spent on a performance mod. Would coilovers be even better, I'm sure, but the 'bang for the buck' you get from a simple set of springs is unbeatable.

If you are just looking for a nice drop and a bit of increased firmness for cornering and such... Eibach is more than sufficient!! The best springs out there and easy on easy off!! I've had eibach pro kit, d2 racing coilovers, and tried to do air but stopped and sold the kit instead... like the last post says... Eibach is the best bang for your buck!! :dblthumb: I just picked up an 08 g35S sedan and first things I'm going to upgrade are drop springs (eibach ofcourse) wheels, full cat back exhaust, mid pipes and hfc!! Most likely going with the R2C Intake kit also!! I'll get pictures as soon as I get on my PC!! Coming off an 08 M45 Sport!! Loved it and miss it but on to the G35 now!! :bigthumb:

ive been pondering this situation as ive experienced the same one with my previous 240 and the springs just werent enough so i bought coils. but after hearing opinions on the eibachs for the g35, i now feel comfortable taking the same chance with my g35.

thanks guys
