I recently got the p0430 code and p0140 code. Car drives wonderful! I have tried erasing it with the scan tool 2 but it came back after about 40 miles. I then disconnected the battery overnight and it erased but came back 300 miles later. I know that the p0430 code is for the cat converter and is a common code in the 01 pathys and the p0140 is for the rear 02 sensor. I dont want to replace the cat unless i know for sure it needs to be replaced. I hate to go to the dealer. I inquired about getting the ecu reprogrammed and they said they would have to check the suv over $$$$$$ also, they said if it is the ecu, it will cost 99.00. Are these two codes related or is one caused by another? Any suggestions as to where I should attack this problem?thanks

its just your oxygen sensor in bank 1. replace that and get it reflashed at the dealer and done.

Is the p0140 code 02 sensor bank1 #2 causing the p0430 code? Do you know what brand, the cost and place of a good 02 sensor other than the dealer? How long for labor, or how much should I expect to pay a mechanic to replace the 02 sensor?

thanks

You may have two problems. FSM sez P0140 is bank 1, and P0430 is "left bank,B2". Different banks, I thnk. I'd chase the P0140 first.

If you replace the O2 sensor the FSM talks about at special tool to clean thethreads. I suspect that's just the right tap, and if somebody figures out whattap, it should be a sticky. It will be 1/4 the price from McMaster, 1/8 from Napa IF Napa carries it.

The reflash is important -- it keeps the problem from coming back. IMHO, itshould have been a recall item -- I had a sensor replaced on warantee thatprobably would not have failed with an early reflash. "Hey, stop by for 10minutes, so we can upgrade you ECU for better reliability."

Well if the 02 threads are the same as all 02 threads, its M18 X 1.25

I threaded about 500 02 sensor bungs tonight on the cnc lathe lol, but there mainly sold to the honda/bike guys
