So I did a valve cover replacement 2 days ago and when I was finished I started the car and it had a hard time starting and had the slip, vdc and service engine lights all come on (btw the car had no lights on and was running fine before I did this) so I came back to it the next morning and found I forgot to plug-in the drivers side camshaft sensor and so I figured that’s what the code was about so I drove it up to oreillys to delete the code (it felt fine and didn’t have any trouble starting this time) but it ended up being P0051 & P1168 which are both codes for o2 sensors which I don’t think I messed with at all because I’m pretty sure the wiring is under the car but do you think it’s just a coincidence it’s failing right after working on the car or could it maybe just be pulling the codes for when it was running without the camshaft sensor creating a lean/rich AFR? I don’t really think it could be this cause the codes came right back after deleting them but if anyone has any advice or has had a similar situation I would greatly appreciated the help.

You might have an air leak somewhere, possibly. Recheck all of your connections, plugs, couplings, etc.

I just did this job also (see my post from a few days ago). I had the P0345 code and a few others after I re-installed the wiring harness. I also had the slip, vdc and SEL lights with this code. But I also had no codes prior to doing the work, so I felt that I might've missed plugging in a connection somewhere. Come to find out I did miss Camshaft Position Sensor Bank 2. It was hard to see because it was hiding under the wiring harness. I had to go back and retrace the wiring harness to find the unplugged connection. I would suggest the same. You might have to remove some parts to get the full picture but it helped me and I located my problem.

So after doing some more research while it was snowing for the past few days I found out the connections for the upstream O2 sensors are on the main wiring harness in the engine bay and they’re the only ones that have a different connector on the harness so I had definitely unplugged them and after just disconnecting and reconnecting it I was able to get the codes to go away and I drove 100 miles without them coming back so I think at first I had just completely forgot to plug in the camshaft sensor and then I didn’t have the O2 sensor plugged in correctly

good to hear you were able to locate the issue. that wiring harness does have a bunch of connectors on it so missing one can happen.
