codes P0011 & P0021

Ok...so I just fond this site today. And thank GOD!!! I have searched around for my problem and here are some specs before I get started2003 Pathy 3.5 V6 77,000 miles

Problem-Loss of power...feels like I am running on 4 on all cylinders. And its intermittent.

Took it to Autozone after the Check Engine light came on . Codes are the P0011 and P0021. (banks 1 & 2)The dude there said that is was probably the Crankshaft position sensor...or the Camshaft posi sensor. So...I bought a Haynes (AWESOME) and looked into it. And sure enough...BOTH of those sensors (or I should say 3 because of the x2 cams) could be causing my problem.

So...to troubleshoot I was just going to get a crank sensor...and replace it, see if that works...if not...on to the cam sensors.

I know where everything is and am MORE than sure I can do it my self...so...

Any other suggestions? Am I on the right track?

ok...well, I bought what I THOUGHT was a back crank posi sensor. (The haynes calls it the POS) and it was the wrong part. It did not match the one that is on the trani bell housing. I am at a loss.

But the more I think about it...the more I think it is going to be the solenoid. I looked at my engine and it looks like there is 2. Driver and passenger. And from I have read on here...that is the bank one and two respectively.

Am I right? How do I know if its the solenoid? And if it is...which one is it?

I really need help...the car is just not running right 100% of the time and it getting REALLY old. The gas mileage sucks...and it is just plain annoying. (I dont think it is causing any more damage to the engine...but I could be wrong. ) Any help with this would be GREATLY appreciated.

What you are looking for is most likely the cam position sensor. These are a common problem on the 3.5 pathfinder. They are located on the front of the engine, look at the very top of the motor you will see the sensors on either side of the motor, it will help to remove the top cover. Bank 1 is on the passenger side of the vehicle, Bank 2 is the driver side. The part # you should have gotten from the dealership should be 23731-2Y524. These sensors are the same for either bank so it won't matter which one goes where. Hope this helps!
