Ok so I just ran the codes, read up on re-locating the knock sensor as the original spot is a PITA.. so I think I'm going to opt for that, as for the 02, does the Z32 have two? Should I replace them both or just the right side as the code calls for?

I'm looking for the knock sensor and harness (going to plug from sensor) for a reasonable price and good quality, this engine isn't going to stay in the car but for now I need it to run right. So top of the line parts aren't what I'm looking for, just good enough. I've looked online at a few local stores and they are all over $100, and they don't say if they have the harness I need or not.. any help would be great!

Replacing these plus new NGK plugs should hopefully kill the sputtering. New fuel pump on the way too because I just have that feeling..

Yea the Z32 does have 2 o2 sensors.

As for the knock sensor: When you say "this engine is not going to stay in your car for long" is it because your swapping to a tt motor. Because if you are swapping to a tt VG motor you mine as well buy a new one cause you can proabably just re use it...

also the Z32 has two, 53 is for the right side and 33 being for the left.
there are a few probable causes as to why its flashing the 53:
Harness and connector
O2 sensor
Fuel pressure
Injectors
Intake air leaks..
you might not even need to replace it

Yes it has two 02 sensors, unless you have a 96 model witch then has 4 02 sensors.

I would recommend replacing them both, its not that hard and i got a set of AMS 02 sensors for like $90 shipped as opposed to $250 for OEM ones that do the same thing.

I noticed better gas mileage and smoother acceleration after i changed mine.

I'd highly recommend against the AMS O2 sensors,as in many cases they are not up to par. If you need to save some money on the O2s, generic NTKs or Bosch sensors are perfectly acceptable replacements.

The guy that made that thread put in " USED AMS 02 Sensors" i bet if i bought used OEM 02 sensors that a good chance they wouldn't work right either

Ive had mine for almost a year and no problems to speak of, if your car is running too rich you can ruin an 02 sensor

New OEM sensors don't cost $250, more like half of that, and you know they'll work. There are much, much better options out there than AMS. And those sensors were barely used "less than 600 miles AMS O2 sensors". Considering they should last 30K-60K miles, I'd call that brand new.

$136 shipped for 2 brand new OEM sensors:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OEM-NISS ... 53e95d9fa5

$80.34 shipped for 2 brand new direct fit NTK O2 sensors. (cheaper than the AMS crap, and much higher quality)

$111.66 shipped for 2 brand new direct fit Bosch O2 senors.

BTW, you can get the exact same O2 sensors that AMS sells on eBay for $10 less each. Oh, but they don't have the fancy AMS laser etching, which you'll never see once installed:

Yeah if he can get both for 130 i would do that, when i was looking to replace mine all the vendors wanted a least 100+ a piece for each side and then i found the AMS ones for like 100 for both so i went with that, if i saw earlier that i could get them both for 130 i would have done that.

i didn't look at ebay or an autoparts store. i figured since AMS was one of 300zxclubs sponsors it would be good enough and i haven't had a problem with them yet.

The OP of the thread you made had to have had something wrong with his car if he only used them for 600 miles then " put them on the shelf" and then months or years later goes back to the ones he only drove on for 600 miles .... that could of been 600 miles of the car running extreamly rich you never know the circumstance.

BTW, just want you to know I'm not judging you, just letting the OP know there are much better options available, for the same or lower price.

I use Amazon for a lot of things. I have their Amazon Prime, so I get free two day shipping on many things. Z specific, I used them recently for hard-to-find 10W-40 Royal Purple oil and ZDDPlus, in addition to my usual Denso filter from them.

you know they're one of the sponsors because they pay money, it doesn't speak about their quality, right?

Concept Z Performance sells the detonation/knock sensor brand new $95 and the detonation/knock harness for about $30. Hope this helps.
