Code Reader Port Location and ECU Diag. Question

1. Anyone know where the OBD-I Port is for a 91 240sx SE?2. Engine Check light has been on and off periodically, when the CEL is off, will the ECU pump out an error code when put under diagnostic mode (using the selector) in other words, does the light have to be on to be able to pull the codes using its built in "code reader"

1. driver side close to fuse box inside car for obd 1 plug. passenger side for computer.

2. no. you will be able to read the codes on the ecu. the red light on dash only comes on for a few codes unless you live in california.

see tutorial link in my signature . look up computer.

for non california car the cel only comes on for RED L.E.D. ON = The ECU's CPU or the Crank Angle sensor is malfunctioning.
