code reader can't connect with computer

Recently bought an 01 qx4 which was sitting for a while. New battery recently. 4WD light and check engine soon just showed up. All 2 and 4 wheel drive modes work but the green lights showing wheel location on the dash stopped working.Any ideas.

It could be one of the ABS sensors at the wheels. Check to see if any of the wires are broken or frayed. Also, try a different OBD reader.
