CODE PO340....camshaft position sensors and crankshaft position sensor location. Specific to this 2006 Altima SE with 3.5 and auto trans (5-Speed), oil had not been changed in a good while. This generally makes, from what I've been reading from other posts, the camshaft sensors go bad...why??? I don't know. any way the car's engine went to safe mode, limiting performance until whatever set code PO340 was fixed. I changed oil, and filter, then replaced the sensors. Bank 2 camshaft position sensor is on L/H side and on forward head, has an angled connector port. Bank 1 camshaft position sensor is also on L/H side on the aft. head, has a straight connector on it. Both connectors are unlocked from the sensors by pushing the green slider on connector toward the sensor, you will hear a click. The connector can then be pulled off. Do not pull on the wires to remove connector. To reinstall connector, just slide it on, green lock will reset automatically. An ID feature is that they each have 3 wires. The crank shaft sensor was on the very bottom of the engine on bellhousing under a metal shield. It also has 3 wires. this is a regular thumb-unlock type. TOTAL COST: ABOUT $160.00. I erased the code PO340 with my code reader and all worked great. I wouldn't have attempted this if other posters had not offered good info on their posts. Thanx bunches.
