Code p1145

Vehicle is a 2001 PF LE. Bought it new, and it has about 88k miles on it. Regular oil changes. Other than 2 O2 sensors, and a muffler, nothing but transmission fluid drain, front pads and 4 tires. The vehicle has been very relaiable,except for the pesky engine codes (P1135 and now a P1145)

I know there has been a lot written about p1135 and p1145 code, but i have not found anything about simply clearing the codes and doing nothing. My question is if i clear the code and it does not come back on, can i assume things are okay?

I ask b/c, i had code p1135 pop up twice (July 2006 and Aug 2006), After clearing it for the second time, it has not reappeared. I attributed it to bad fuel.

I always assumed that if there was a problemwith the vehicle or the sensor, the code would come back on after clearing it. I do not know if i am kidding myself or not. The car seems to run fine, it is getting the usual stellar 16mpg, engine is smooth, and power is normal.

Is there anything I should look for like a drop in MPG's, rough engine, etc?

from personal experience, i got a p1145 on a saturday morning, cleared it sat night and by monday it was back on again. at that point i decided to not even fight it and simply replace that sensor. as far as performance, that sensor determines where the intake valve is. thus if it started reading totally wrong, the computer might start injecting fuel at the wrong time, leading to an engine that runs like crap, or not at all. but it doesnt hurt , in my poinion, to clear it a time or 2 and see what happens, just for the heck of it, unless the motor starts running like dog doodie.

tinmack - thanks, i appreciate your response. I had it cleared on Thursday (2/8) and so far it hads not come back on. Engine seems to be running fine. I am monitoring the mpg, just to see if it changes. If it is the same, iwill assume that it was nothing to worry about.
