I have been dealing with VTC sensors and CAM sensors for the past month and a half now... I took my 2001 Nissan Pathfinder to the local dealership and they changed out both VTC sensors (intake and exhaust) and a CAM sensor. At the time, they recommended an oil flush b/c they said sludge from the engine had damaged the sensors. I declined the oil flush since I assumed that it was an extra service that I didn't need (mechanics in Atlanta love to rip off women). Two weeks later my service engine light comes back on. I took it back to the dealership and they are telling me that the sensor is working but since I didn't get the oil flush, the sludge has built back up and keeping the sensor from reading properly. They said if I got this done then the proplem would go away. Based on the reasearch I've done online, I've learned that doing an oil flush is a waste of money and can actually damage your engine. Am I being ripped off or should I get this done?
