Have an issue with my Pathfinder. Has two codes P0717 and P0734. 4th gear malfunction and turbine revolution sensor. From my research it’s seems like I need to replace the valve body in the transmission. Doesn’t seem like the turbine sensor is external on a 08 pathfinder. Past history radiator went about a year ago. Antifreeze got on transmission. Replace radiator and flushed transmission multiple times. Overall vehicle is ok. Downshifts different and sometimes it needs to rev high after stopped. As of right now fluid looks good. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you discovered the SMOD a hair too late for a clean save. The turbine sensor is indeed part of the VB, but you might want to drop the pan and inspect the pins and connectors before buying a new one. Both of those codes are electrical, and it's entirely possible the SMOD started a corrosion process in the connectors or TCM mainboard. Once the green rock candy sets in, it gradually destroys the contact plating a molecule at a time, so it's not uncommon for problems to set in long after the original issue is fixed.

Thank you for the quick reply. So if the green rock candy has taken over. What would your recommendation be. New transmission?

No, I'm talking about corrosion on the electrical contacts for the TCM, which on R51's is part of the VB. Very often a good cleaning with a product like Deoxit, and maybe retouching solder on the connector pins, will recover a "bad" TCM. Keep in mind that the TCM lives in a rough neighborhood to begin with, and when you add in the moisture and excess heat which accompany an SMOD, it's easy for the connections to get screwed up. If that's the issue, you may not even need a VB, just some electrical TLC for the VB you have.

So no corrosion. No discoloration. All pins in great shape. Ended up buying a new tcm and solenoids. Put all new parts in. It’s seems like i need to get it programmed. Car drives but you can tell shifting points aren’t set. transmission shop or Nissan to get it programmed. Any idea the cost?

All the new Nissan C/U's come unprogrammed these days. The programming takes less than half an hour, but that doesn't include putting a thumb up your butt waiting for the Parts Department to pull up the ROM ID, or waiting impatiently for the Consult3+ to boot up and crossing your fingers that it doesn't crash. So most shops will charge you an hour to hour-and-a-half.

Update on TCM. Installed no issues. Dropped it of as Nissan. Come to find out I was sold the wrong Tcm. It was for a Skyline or Infiniti. Guess thats what I get for buying on Amazon. Guess I'm on the search for another tcm. Dealer gave me the part #. Any cheap sites you guys know about. Thanks for any info.

Try using the part number for your google search term, that's always a better idea than shopping by MMY. To broaden the search, you could also ask the Parts Dept to print you the "supersession chain" for the part, any number in the chain will work for you.

I believe the part I’m looking for is 992D etc91-161n Hitachi. That’s on the old tcm.

Your problem isn't the hardware, it's the firmware. Most ECM's and TCM's before about '13 can't be programmed as "new blank" by the Consult3+, they can only be updated based on the initial part number. That means a lookalike part using the same base hardware won't be programmable to work in your vehicle, and that's why the dealership couldn't help you. Shop using the Nissan part number, it's the only way to guarantee suitable firmware.

This thread went cold...

I'm in a similar boat but I haven't bought my TCM yet. How did you make out?
