Probably not related because the symptoms most often discussed are soft miss at idle, hesitation.

However, the transmission does get some info from the TPS to soften shifts so a bad one could certainly cause a harsh shift.

I have a question about the statement..."failure to exercise the engine to blow the carbon out."What exactly would qualify as exercising the engine??

Redline runs on a daily basis. Preferably on the highway.

Luckily redline ~~ 52 mph in 1st so 45 mph should be doable anywhere anytime. Just blow the carbon out in rpm oscillations from 30-45 mph [locked in 1st] for few minutes 10-15 times.............floor it, let off, floor it etc

Is there any information about the effect of minor oxidation on the MAF sensor connector on the dreaded idle stumble? I recently cleaned my MAF connector and dielectric greased it and the stumble vanished. PLEASE NOTE: I also replaced the fuel and air filter at the same time.

I have had this stumble for some time and had previously replaced the fuel filter and the air filter with no effect on the stumble. This time, at 114K miles, I cleaned the MAF sensor electrical connector and the stumble vanished.
