Hello Fellow Nico-nuts;
I bought a 2002 QX4 with 138,500 miles in January. I had it shipped from Cambridge, Ohio to Sunny south Florida. Fully loaded except the rear DVD. It even came with the original window sticker. Owned by one family. Really good condition, just some dings on the bumpers. All cars and people need to retire here! Anyways...I had my local shop basically rebuilt the brakes from bearings to rotors, calipers and drums from power stop. Then, a full tuneup with new plugs, hoses, belts, battery and filters. It came with 17" chrome wheels which after many years of salt and show needed to be replaced and uniroyal duellers, I'm ready baby!
The check engine light was on when the Q was delivered from Ohio. They changed the downstream O2 sensor. The light still didn't go out when I picked it up. After a few days, I brought it back. Finally, it was ready. The engine light was out and I was a happy puppy.
Then the T mobile hot spot that plugs into the OBD indicated that the P0158 & P0057 came up as an issue. The check engine light did not come on. The car runs fine, the brake pressure finally got stronger, (wish they would have told me that it takes time to build up the pressure on a new braking system).
Why didn't the check engine light not come on when my OBD from t Mobile and the Carsoft MB11 that I just bought for my Benz also showed the codes? I'd hate to think that the service station would have defeated the engine light signal.
