**2006 M35 with 211k**

I have done some work, figured out the misfire issues on the car but still getting a P0011 code and it will occasionally start idling very rough. I figured out, with the help of my dad, that if the service engine light is on, it runs much rougher. We found a couple of coil packs were bad and 1 plug was finger tight and the plug well was full of oil: Fixed!

Wondering if there is any way to turn back the timing electronically? Is there a way to do this with a "Superchips" type tuner or even through an Infiniti specific mechanic that is not the dealer? Or do I just get the ODB2 reader on my phone and be able to clear the code when it shows up?

Thanks in advance,

Tedd "Not-a-mechanic" Woody

Have you considered the vvt solenoid? I suggest going to a local auto wreckers and pull the solenoid. P0011 point to the Bank ! which is the passenger side for your car.

Hi Dennis Yes we checked that and took them apart and they were working fine, not sticking, no rust, no issue

I had a similar problem with a P0014 code. The solenoid bench tested fine but I decided to change it anyway. The new solenoid solved my problem. I think the old one was probably just weak.

Wow, you don't mess around. You probably didn't need two since you don't have a code for the "B" bank. Not a bad idea to change them at the same time though, especially with that much mileage.

I found them for a deal, brand new pair for $35.00 Im sure they are not the highest quality, but if they fix it for a while. I don't want to spend a ton of money on a car with 211k miles on it, but I need it to work for a while. They are easy enough to change out.

Replacing both of the VVT solenoids seems to have solved the problem. I am getting a P0430 now, catalyst efficiency below threshold now and need to figure that one out but the car is running well now.

Thanks DenisMcG

Glad to hear the solenoids fixed the first problem. For the P0430, there are a number of possible items. For one possible solution, google "P0430 anti-fouler". Some people don't like this option because it is basically tricking the ECU, but with older cars, it is about keeping them on the road at as low a cost as possible.

Im about done with this car. Im not enough of a mechanic to deal with this. Im moving away from where my mechanics are located and I need to get back into a truck. Now Im getting a P0300 code as well. And the P0011 came back. Sad thing is when it isnt idling, it runs great and while it has a few issues, its in pretty good shape for a 14 year old car and its fun to drive.
