First of all,
I've been coming here as a searcher of info for over a year now since I bought my Z and finally decided to register so I could post this question and probably many more in the future.

Now to the fun. So this has been about 6 months in the making at this point, give or take. I swapped in a used VG30DE after my old engine gave out this summer, no problems there. The "new" engine was misfiring pretty bad after the swap and after finally finding time to check everything, I found out there were 2 bad injectors. Being old style injectors, I decided to replace all of the injectors with the new style. After searching I found someone with low-mileage used injectors and picked them up, ordered an adapter kit, and threw them in after a plenum pull with no problems.

After all of this it started fine on the first try. Let it run for a little bit to make sure nothing sounded funny and drove around the block. Got back, switched off the ignition and decided to check codes to be sure. Code 51 still. Reset and repeat...still code 51. I've checked all of the injectors. They're all in working order, ohms check out fine, and sticking a long screwdriver onto each injector and listening reveals a nice clicking sound like it should on each one. This being said, there's a little bit of hesitation after the car is warmed up. Cold start and it runs fine until warmed up.

I was told to check PTU, but I thought this was just for coilpack troubles? I'm really stumped on this one and I have no money to throw into this car right now. I've searched and cannot find for the life of me a thread with this exact problem. Your help is greatly needed and appreciated!

PTU has caused strange issues before, but I'd look more at your CAS. But honestly, if all the injectors are firing, the CAS is most likely good. Only thing I could think of would be an old wiring harness causing an intermittent miss or open signal or something, or the ECU itself being wonky.

Oh, and welcome to NICO! :mike

Thanks I'm glad to be here!

I've also had trouble with the car sputtering out and almost dying on me every time I approach a red light or stop sign. It's almost like the engine is having trouble maintaining idle.

I'm going to piddle around with it today to see if I can find anything else out. Anything you can think of that I should check while I'm under the hood?

Update: Ohm test reveals #3 injector registers absolutely nothing while everything else is fine. Weird that they were all fine before installation though. The guy that sold me this used set will give me another since one was no good though so should hopefully be running in a week or two depending on how long it takes me to get back home lol

Good deal. The computer generally doesn't lie. Yeah, that's always the risk with buying used parts. I don't think I'd ever consider used injectors at all. I know new is expensive, but it's worth it to know you're not getting another dude's headache.

Yeah I knew that when I went for them. I was saving up to upgrade the fuel system eventually but funding slowed down so I had to stop saving for a while lol. I didn't have the money when the others were no good so I found a trustworthy guy with a good many for a cheap price and swapped them in. Luckily he's sending me another one free of charge!
