[87 hardbody 4x4]

I have a 1987 4x4 Hardbody nissan pickup, my engine started bucking and jerking, I checked my eccu it gave me error code 44. What does this mean? Has a 24Z motor, 190,000 miles, original owner.

There's the codes, but I don't know what ECCS Normal Operation means exactly. ECCS refers to the ECU itself, so maybe your computer is going bad.

Thanks for the info. I have been hunting for the week. I will have to work on it after it ends.

I did some more test drives around the block and my truck seems to loose all power completly around 2000 rpm. Will try a spare eccs unit and a few relays that I picked up at boneyard last year. The engine seems to be fine at any rpm while sitting still and idles great, but when I drive it, I have to short shift it. Any thoughts?

Fixed! I swapped out ECCS and it runs fine now. I did notice minor corrosion on a few of the terminals on one plug, scraped gently and sprayed ends with electrical contact cleaner, reinstalled original ECCS unit and it also worked fine. End of problems. Hope this helps anybody with similar problems. Full trial run in mountains tommorow hunting.
