code 41 on 1987

got a code today of #41 and my motor is running rough. it says its a fuel temperature sensor. is this the cause of my bad idle and poor performance?

Unplug the fuel temp sensor and see if it runs better. If it does, replace the sensor. Nissan is one of the only ones that sell it. Try courtesy parts .com (without spaces), they carry most of the Nissan OEM parts. Plus, it's fairly affordable.
