code 34, late for emissions,please help

i got the egr code to turn off by plugging the egr solenoid back in, but the computer keeps throwing code 34 which i think is knock sensor. if i were to put some denatured alcohol in my tank, or retard the timing would that help? this is 95 240sx with a 91 engine. does anyone have any ideas? thanks in advance

87oct and 22* is the first prob for you to look at. that is a bad combo. knock sensor code should not fail emmissions as far as i know. but hey, i could be wrong. its usually a bad sensor and harness.

damn i just failed. Hc was 2.26 standard is .80 co was 25.1 standard is 15. co2 doesnt count but was at 367.4

im thinking i should either open a hole in the exhaust, or use my paintball co2 tank and line to inject co2 after the maf.

ok, you are pretty rich there. is the timing stock? if not go stock on timing at least for the test. then do the gallon of denatured alcohol and try that. dont drive the car hard on the alcohol though ok.

should i use 1 gallon per full tank or should i do a half tank so its got more alcohol? timing is still 22* but on 91 octane now so its not knocking. thanks for the advice

top chart is hc, next co, last co2. dotted line is mph. this page says co was 53, co2 was 485 which is different for some reason

im not sure as i have never done it. by the way if its not too much trouble or time the proper way would be to fix the problem of course. problem could be with maf, ect, etc. may be a good idea to check for codes.

a full tune up wont hurt either, new o2 sensor, plugs, fuel filter, air filter, clean maf with brake cleaner (be careful, its fragile!), rotor, cap, and check resistance of the CTS too (when engine is warm)

yeah, i was thinking it could be a maf ground or something. I stripped the ground on the alternator so its not connected, does that have anything to do with the maf ground? i also disconnected most of the vacuum lines on the intake manifold, should i uncap those to lean it out? i also have a ghetto short intake made from a pvc bend, could the maf be getting a bad signal due to resonance? thanks Alot chris and 240kid, im gonna donate to nico when it passes

I passed emissions today by .01 i put about 3/4 gallon of denatured alcohol in the tank and made a vaccum leak. the bastard check engine light came back on right before i got there so i ran the car in diagnostics mode and it never went on. i didnt think i was gonna pass because the guy doing it was shifting like a retard and the car was backfiring in between shifts. thanks a lot chris!
