hey guys, ill make this quick and simple

my 180 is throwing code 34, knock. i havent done any wiring related to knock sensor. i have however removed the cas lately to polish it. i believe i set it in properly.
my car has just been finished and is running insanely rich.. wont rev up because is throwing maf code but i can fix that in the safc. I havent done that yet though because im scared to rev it up because i think the sensor might not be lieing. related mods are

440 injectors
32 gtr fuel pump
z32 maf
sard fpr. fuel pressure is set properly
mines ecu + safc2
gt28 turbo

is there anything i can do to stop the code? by spinning the cas toward retard? im not sure here :gotme
here is a video of the first start it had. maf is unplugged

OK, so, if you're running 440s, and you unplug the MAFS, the ECU goes into fail safe. Fail safe is designed for 370cc injectors, and no amount of tuning on the SAFC or different ecu chips will change that. Are you sure the ecu is designed for that MAFS? Those injectors?

I'd be willing to bet it's NOT tuned for the MAFS, and as such, until you setup the MAFS in the SAFC, or put a stock MAFS on there, it's going to run too rich.

Like float says, is your ecu tuned to accept the AFM you're using? You don't have to be afraid of something that won't rev; you can't do any mechanical damage to your engine. Also check your settings in your SAFC. Last question, is your knock circuitry connected properly. When you guys start messing with those SAFCs and not familiar with connections, this seems to happen.

thx guys. im going to give that a go on the safc and report back. i just ordered a chip that is tuned for what i am running and that should be my fix. Im starting to think that the ecu is either faulty or not actually tuned for what the guy said it was. my only gripe with ca is the rarity of the power fc :(

There's other approaches to magic box/ecu trickery and hit or miss eprom burns that's called standalone engine management. Some people say they can't justify spending money on such a flexible tuning tool, but they are actually fooling themselves or actually have fooled themselves into believing that non-sense. You end up wasting time, labor= money and many a down time because of being cheap. If one done't want to spend the coin, keep the engine stock and stop upgrading. Just be satisfied with what the factory intended for the engine to put out and don't complain when the fool in the SR powered car or little honda non-sense rapes you good :tisk: And 444cc is no longer a major upgrade anymore with this engine as the stock injector is 370cc. If you are looking to just having nice running car that makes noise when you change gears, then you should remove the SAFC and put the ECCS back to its original state. But if you are looking to exploit the power this little engine is capable of and are truly dedicated to said goal, then you need to stop playing around and open up the wallet as well as accept the advice from those who know what it takes to get you where you want to go. PowerFC is rare, so don't think you're going to find one or those who have them are going to give them up so easily and for such a cheap price. Again to all, you must spend to win :) .

ive been exploring the world of engine management and have owned a pfc for an rb25 of mine. I know the Ca18 has some viable options but ive decided to go with chipped ecu's not because of the price, but because i cant tune myself and theres no tuners around here. at all. so theres no point of me getting one. and megasquirt looks way too complicated. also i picked 444 cc injectors because it is within the safc2s range and if im getting close to maxing them out i will upgrade

bumping my thread. i got rid of code 34 by wiring 2 1/8th watt 500k resistors (to get 1M)
my code 34 is no longer a problem, i am going to re hook the knock sensor back up as soon as i get a decent base tune.
my mines ecu is NOT working properly to what the guy said it was tuned for. so im using the safc2 on stock ecu for now. heres some more pics for fun

yes it is the nismo brace. I polished the bar and sandblasted the mount part and painted them silver. it looks like new!
I was going to post more pictures but i figure i will start my own thread rather than continue this one as i fixed my problem (temporarily)
