Code 32 EGR valve help please

My car is throwing a code "32* EGR function" and my idle is really bad, I have to smog my car next week, can it pass the sniffer with an bad EGR? Where is the EGR located? And what are some of the things I should do to try to fix it thanks

EGR is located on the intake manifold...it's function is to add exhaust gas to the intake manifold under certain conditions.

It's controlled by what's called the BPT valve, which operates via vacuum.

Sounds like your EGR valve is stuck open, which allows exhaust gas into the intake even at idle, when it's not supposed to be open.

You can pull it off the intake (3 X 12mm bolts), clean it with carb cleaner, maybe free it up...it's juts a simple diaphram.

Where on the manifold is it located? I have been looking for pictures every where, and I still have not seen a pic of the egr valve, thanks for the reply :)

On the backside facing the firewall.

is it sort of a goldish color, and round?
