What causes my car to throw code 32 randomly? It turns on sometimes when I'm driving, and turns back off later on during the day.

I pushed up against the EGR valve thing and my car stumbles, which means the egr is functional.

What could it be?

How are you pushing it? I could be wrong but it should be all metal. So your getting three reds and one green from the ECU?E.G.R. valve doesn't operate. Or the valve spring doesn't lift at all.Is your car a SOHC?If so download a FSM go to Page EF & EC -100 more like 101 but all if starts at 100

Good luck

engine is ka24de. plugged in a odb reader into ecu and it says code 32. could a vacuum leak cause the light to come on and off?

code 32 egr function doesnt mean its just the egr valve it could be a whole bunch of other fun stuff.

You tested the Egr valve and you said your engine stumbles. that only means that its not clugged. But it also could have a weak or torn internal diaghram and wont open via vaccum.

Your BBT valve controls Vaccum going to your EGR valve. That too should be tested.

The car also has these little control soleniods, which are switched open and closed from your ecu. Thes little suckers tend to break where the hose meets the nipple on them.

You should probably check all the hoses at your charcol canister and make sure there all connected. Also check the hoses running to and from your BBT valve, egr valve, and contorl solenoids. make sure there all well connected and not broken, brittle or old looking.

The small hose under my egr valve connecting to the BPT valve is very brittle. Could that affect anything?

yes it can but is it snug to where it connects? if so likely not. but if its brittle it could be cracked that would make it loose vaccum, so it would deffinitly need to be replaced.

Some vaccum tubbing fomr the auto store is like .99 cents a foot. just make sure you get the right size, something that fits on nice and snug. just take and old hose down there with you when you go to get some.
