I searched and found alittle info on this but it was just bits and pieces.

If this was bad would my temp gauge inside of the car work? Mine does. I just checked my ecu and its throwing code 13 for coolant temp sensor i just looked it up on autozone to get a picture of what it looks like but i cant find the location on a KA24E. Last time i checked the codes was before the head swap and it read 55. Im sorry if i sound alittle ignorant but i admit i know nothing of what im supposed to do. What else could i check or how would i go about fixing this problem?

THANX

Ok nevermind about the location I just found that it was located near the thermostat housing thanx to a post a while ago from NISTECH. I still dont really know what needs to be done though. I would like to get this problem fixed by the end of tomorrow 8/11 because i get my aiv plug on the 12th and need the car to be driven 300 miles on the 13th.

Thankyou again!

There are 2 sensors for coolant. one is the coolant temp sensor for the ECM its 2 wires and usually red or yellow in color. The other one is the coolant temp sender for the gauge in your dash. It is black in color and only a single wire connector. So to answer your question yes your gauge will still work. Now the problem could be as simple as corrosion build up in the connector at the sensor. A good cleaning with battery terminal cleaner or baking soda and water as well as slightly bending the female pins in the connector to tighten it up on the sensor could be all it is. Or you could just have a bad sensor.
