This morning my 240 started up just fine but after about 2 seconds it started running like crap. Feels alot like a misfire. It will drive but it really struggles at every rpm. It reminds me of the time I forgot to hook up the maf a few years ago.Big suprise I'm getting trouble code 12, "maf".I took it out and it looks like it's in great condition, The source voltage is good, the ground is good. With aux power it reads .3v, idle reading is 1.2v. Seems ok, but the last test threw me off. when reving the engine I'm supposed to see the voltage climb from the 1.2v idle to about 4v at 4k rpm but I can rev it as high as 6k rpm and the voltage will only go up to about 3.3v.I know this probably means the maf went bad but I'd like to know if replacing it will fix the problem. Like I said, at idle the maf reads 1.2v which is good but the idle is seriously rough. Does that suggest it's something else?Suggestions appreciated.

plugs & wires are finealready cleaned mafplugged injector?? (would this throw a code?)

disconnect your battery for an hour or two to reset the ecu. then before reconnecting the battery check you maf plug for proper fit, if all is good reconnect the battery and it should recognize the maf.

Code reset, no change.

Does anyone know how it could be throwing a code 12 at idle when I can read the maf wire at the ecu to be 1.2v? Doesn't make sense.Thanks.

at seeing these air flow meters more than once a test OK but would trigger the ECU code 12 I try another air mass sender and the problem is gone. Do make sure your connections are not corroded or damaged. Sounds like you can do hit the point of when the manual says try known good part always loved that little phrase in the factory service manual>>>>>>

Been looking for another maf all day. So far only one wrecking yard has it, $135 - yeah right.

Anyone in the Portland, OR area who wants to sell me one for a reasonable price would be great. Don't want to wait for shipping.

Iv got an extra 3 prong MAF, early series KA or SR. The later ones are 4, the extra for a intake air temp.. Do you need that one or the newer style?

HELLOOO

I have the same problem...have you solve it?

I put in a working MAF and no change. Is it supposed to make a difference right away? I havent tried the ECU reset. I will today. Also, someone told me after install the new MAF to start the engine a number of 23 times for ECU to adjust or somethin...is this BS?

i also changed the throttle sensor, coil pack, and carbon catch can...all before reading the code. AND I checked for all the grounds and theyre there.

n still I get black smoke...almost blueish. rough idle or shut off and wouldn't be able to rev past 2500. I replaced my stock intake, and still the same except i can rev past 2500, not a healthy rev though....

any advise from the gurus? please i need a car!!

I HOPE THIS ADDS TO THIS THREAD< I DON"T MEAN TO THREAD JACK.
