Me and my brother just picked up a 93 300zx NA and were just getting it ready to drive and nearly everything is good besides a few things here and there. But my main question is how to get the car out of the safe mode. I have cleaned grounds, checked connections to MAF( not sure if I was doing it right), put new filters in, cleaned the MAF with the CRC mass air flow sensor cleaner, reset the codes. But every time we start the car the check engine lights comes back on and then the car wont rev past 2.5k. How do I check if the MAF is still good, and hw do I check the connections correctly? Also are the MAFs on ebay any good? they say they are a replacement for the N62 but I am not so sure. Does anyone have a good working MAF they are willing to sell if mine does happen to be bad? I am new to 300zxs and would love any help. Thanks!!

This should help. The FSM is available online if you just Google "300zx fsm"

Anywho, the MAF is probably shot. ebay ones are junk and never read right. You can find good used ones on here in the classifieds section, or on twinturbo.net in the classifieds section, or even craigslist depending on where you live

So if the voltages are not correct at those conditions then does that mean that the MAF is bad?? Thanks!!

Yes. The most noticeable thing though is not revving past 2500 rpms = bad MAF

Do not buy the ebay ones unless it states its a N62. If it doesn't have N62, it will do nothing but cause you problems.

What Jr said, not revving past 2500 means bad MAF, normally. If it doesn't test right, usually means its bad. Best thing you an do is see if you can swap the MAF out with a known working one so you know that is the issue, they can get expensive if its not the issue. If you are handy with electronics, you can always pull the cover and make sure the solder is good on the connections. I had a bad MAF once, opened it up, re soldered the connections. Haven't had an issue once with the MAF since.

Well I checked the voltages again the right way and found no voltage coming from pin B at all running or non running. So I decided to what nissanfreak12 said. I pulled off the connector and popped the it outta the MAF. Most of the connections inside were covered with rust and some other nasty stuff so I cleaned them and going to have it re soldered and then check if it will work again. Question though.... does Pin A not have a connection on the inside?? there is a hole on the side of the MAF where another connection could go but it doesnt look like it has ever been soldered so I would guess it didnt have one originally, but anyone know about that???thanks guys!!
