Who has it? Who's going to be playing this weekend? Thoughts? Opinions? I'm downloading it at this moment, and want to know what everyone else is thinking.

I just can't get into that game. I like how you choose your spawns and things of that nature, but it's just not my game.

$15 dollars for a map pack?

It infuriates me to no end. The only reason they have the balls to sell something like that for $15 is because people are willing to pay for it. So I say F*CK YOU IW/Activision! Not only that but Xbox gets it earlier. OMG that pisses me off.

And to finish this rant, I was watching a Core interview with Vince Zampella (Head of IW) and when asked about map packs and DLC he said, "We support the community, they support us (so) we have to support them back". Yeah, ok.

I could easily pay for it so the issue isn't money, it is principal. A game with so much BS attached to it during and after launch you would think they wouldn't charge so much to the community they appreciate so much. IDK if the $15 price tag was an IW or Activision decision but it sucks any way you slice it.

ANOTHER $15 map pack that's 40% PORTED MAPS FROM THE PREVIOUS GAME!

Unbelievable. It's just...unbelievable. It's pretty clear what Activision thinks of their fans.

What a bunch of poopyhead.

I still laugh at myself for this, I refuse to pay $15 for map packs, even though I bought the $149 prestige edition. The best part about these map packs, you know they will come out with a GOTY edition with all of the maps.

So MW2 was just a game that has a 1 year shelf life?

activision and IW are no longer partners i believe they split over some arguement about money. Activision owns the rights to the CoD franchise but IW still has the rights for Mw2
which is why they sell the map packs for so much, its the only income they can get from the game now which is also why they keep coming out with maps so quickly.

If you post a legitimate article about that then I will with out a doubt buy both for both systems...

But that is definitely not the case. Activision is behind the prices.

Hey..at least you got some new maps...BC2 just went and labeled added game modes for some maps as a "map pack". Yeah it's free but come on...at least use the same dictionary as the rest of us please.

You're SURPRISED by this?!?!?!
EVERY CoD game is DESIGNED to have a 1 year shelf life. It's been that way since CoD 3. That's why Activision has so many studios working on a SINGLE franchise...it's the only way to crank out any sort of quality game on a yearly basis. It is INTENDED to be a yearly thing. Which makes it even MORE ridiculous that they charge extra for ultra-basic post-release support (maps). It makes the full-experience cost $90...for a game that's good for a single year. Either of those things (1-year planned obsolescence and tiny paid map packs) are abominable enough on their own, but together they form Captain We Hate Our Fans And Love Their Wallets. By your dollars combined.

I think you misread something somewhere. You're on the right track, but you've got your facts twisted.

Activision and IW are not (and were not) merely partners. Activision OWNS Infinity Ward. Owns as in still does. Nothing has changed there. IW is one of four developers Activision has dedicated to the CoD franchise. The "split" you're referring to is likely the departure of a few key IW personnel. Those employees left IW (and thus Activision) but the REST of IW is still in the same spot it was before: working for Activision on CoD.

The IW employees who left are indeed in court seeking the rights to the Modern Warfare setting. That has not yet been resolved in court.
Many of those employees have moved on to co-found Respawn Entertainment, through which I assume they hope to continue the MW franchise, or at least something closely approximating it in the event that they don't get the rights to the Modern Warfare setting.

And a group of remaining Infinity Ward employees have sued Activision over supposed unpaid bonuses related to MW2.

But despite all that drama, Infiniti Ward is still an Activision subsidiary.

The map pack pricing has nothing to do with any of that. The first map pack happened BEFORE all that drama anyway.
The pricing is the result of two things: Activision being greedy bastards, and the console playerbase being stupid enough to actually pay it. They charge that much because people pay that much. It's that simple. Want someone to blame? Blame everyone who actually bought the stimulus pack. They sent a message straight to Activision HQ that they can indeed get away with charging a$$ prices for s*** that should be free.

BC2 has an entire expansion headed its way in the form of Bad Company: Vietnam.

Thank you. I didn't want to say it because I didn't want to insult people but this is exactly how I feel.

Thank you.

I am surprised by the 1 year shelf life, given that MW2 was the first COD series I really played online. I was always playing Halo 3 especially since they have a good multiplayer. (IMO) I had COD4 MW but just played single player then sold it. I guess I will be avoiding the COD series just like I avoid sports games. Anything that is designed to have a sequel in 1 year I will pass. Hopefully Halo Reach will last longer than 1 year, from Bungie's record, it probably will.

Bungie has always been extremely good at extracting a LOT of life from their games' online components. I suspect Reach will last a very long time.
