Hello all
This is my white Kouki that to make a long story short pretty much, slammed a guardrail. :tisk:

Is it totaled? Or can it be brought back to life? What kind of price am I looking at? I figure I can get the parts cheaper then a collision shop would charge me. Although, I'm in Colorado so shipping would suck and they would still have to do the collision work. There is some pretty serious damage on the passenger side to real structual parts, pillars, suspension mounting points, etc. Not to mention the body panels. Anyone with collision experience please chime in.

I only had liability insurance when it happend so its on me to fix :nono:. I haven't had it looked at yet. It's been like this in my garage for awhile now, too long actually. I for some reason put this project on the back back burner.

Any thoughts on what to do? I don't want to get rid of her but if it's too much to fix I'll have to. Should I just part it out? Probably wouldn't get much for selling it like it is.

Yeah it's probably not worth trying to get back on the road. The A pillar and b pillar would cost a ton to fix and I wouldn't trust everything to be strait. Would make a bad a** drift chassis though if you feel like welding and getting it strait-ish. I would part out. Couldn't hurt to go get a quote though.

Where are you in CO? I might honestly be interested in checking it out, that is of course if you decide to get rid of it.

^ agreed
its fixable if you have the money ( lots of it ) but your best off parting out and down grading, or fixing it to be a track car. I would say between 8-10k repairs from a body shop.

Nice camber angle kit on the rear...lol

i say totaled, the sub structure of the car really isnt built to take damage like that, my fear is even if you fix it you will never get it perfect. if it were me i would strip it out, sell the parts you dont need, find a shell with a bad motor, and swap away!!

sorry for your loss.. if you decide to get rid of the car or part it out i would be interested in the whole car or just the front clip minus motor and sheet metal/bumper/lights.

Definitely totaled. Just going by cost to fix vs. cost for a new car and you're in the hole there. Uhh... Welcome to NICO? :welcome:

How much is it worth?

spend 3000 in parts and another 2000 in labor

wait till you can save up the money for a full paint job

Technically it's totalled, damage repairs would cost more than 75% of it's value. But any reasonnably skilled bodyman could fix that, and do it every day.
A quarter panel, door, fender, rear suspension, you could get them all used, new windshield. And some pulling on the right pillar maybe. This car, if it was just a few years old, with some book value, would not be totalled.

I'm not just blowing smoke, i'm a bodyman with over 35 years in the trade.

yeah it would cost you more to fix than replace collect the insurance and keep the car and part it out i would have done that with my 92 but i was moving and didnt have time to part it out still got three times what i paid for it thought very nice

if you do decide to do that let me know i need a engine ecu and wiring harness from a 91 or newer

He doesn't have the option of taking the insurance check, he didn't carry full coverage on a 14 year old car.
