So i get new motor and start swapping altenator, water pump, distributor from old motor since it was all new... so i tell my friend who was helping me do the swap to take my already painted valve cover from my old motor to swap on the new motor and when i took a look inside i noticed that the straight side on the timing chain lacked a guide and the person who sold me the motor failed to mention that.. pissed me off so i took my brand new guides from my old motor and threw them on there.. so now i'm having to replace timng chain guides as well as motor and transmission.. additional work that wasn't expected but glad i checked...

Well, were you asking something or looking for a "Sorry to hear, buddy"...?

I bought a pair of shorts at Old Navy last week and ripped them getting out of a truck yesterday...so now I have toget a new pair...additonal trip to the mall I wasn't expecting, but oh well.

????

But on topic, what motor? Under your username it says '89 or '90...so a SOHC?

And which guides? If this is a DE, then the upper guides are not needed, is that what you're swapping?

Let us know - Brian

Just finished the swap today ... and no this wasn't a pitty post if it was i would specify that... Its an E swap as stated by the know-it-all 12er... 4th one now.. i rebuilt it since i had it out already... fun stuff.. bit of a pita to slide the the drive shaft back into the output shaft but all in all runs smoothly aside from the timing being off a tooth.. no biggy though.. i'll fix that tomorrow...
