I've got a RPS sport clutch from SPL Parts. Feels like stock at the pedal, engages like stock, holds 300lbft of torque. I'd reccomend it for sure. ACT and Spec make good clutches as well.

I don't understand why some are solid all around and some have 4 5 and 6 puck? what's the difference?

the "pucked" clutches are more race oriented. they engage harsher/quicker than a full disk and I assume they are able to hold more power. if you get a puck type clutch try to get one with a sprung center, it will be easier to drive on the street and won't chatter when you engage it slowly from a stop.

so for instance, I have one that is solid all the way around and every now and then when I shift I sometimes tend to let out the clutch out too quick and it jerks (not good) so if I were to go with say a 6 puck I'll HAVE to let it out a bit quicker to engage it properly, right? and if I were to go to a 4 that I assume would be the "quickest"?

but one more question, I'm sure if I were to go to a puck style the wear and tear live would be lesser...

sorry for all the questions... I should have went to school for cars lol

you don't have to operate a puck style clutch any different, it engages quicker when you shift. say you're at the strip racing. You run through the gears... in a street style full faced organic clutch, it will slip slightly when you let the clutch out at high rpms, where a puck clutch with ceramic (or some other grippier material) will catch quicker and spend less time burning off clutch material. As with anything, the higher performance, the lower the life span on average. as far as the differences between a 4 and 6 puck, i couldn't tell you. Most of us didn't go to school for any of this, just search for the information and most of the time it's out there.

not to mention harsher engagement. if you're for the most part stock, get the ones listed as "stage 1" or "street" and avoid the pucked ones.

I would say, Ogura Clutch. They are used as OEM in many Japanese cars.Ogura Racing Clutch aka ORC, their sports clutch brand makes awsome performace clutches.Top Knotch JDM

ACT street disc + heavy duty pressure plate FTW. easy engagement, takes all the abuse i hand to it.

I think bang for the buck it'd be between exedy and ACT.

if you're looking at a relatively stock engine, don't waste your cash on stuff like multidisc clutches and so on. Some of those clutch systems can cost more than an s13 lol.
