I have a 93 nissan 240 SX. This moring when i was driving went to a full stop at a red light. when it was time to go. I tried to shift to first gear it will not go into 1st gear. tried reverse nothing. When i was able to get in to first gear and the car is running everything is ok going into 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th even reverse. But when I shut of the engine and re start again tried to go into 1st gear it won't engage not not even in reverse. Is this means that it's time to replace the clutch? need advise.... thank you

does the pedal seem soft/mushy? Likely clutch hydraulic problem. Master cylinder and/or slave. Check each one for leaks. Check the MC tank for fluid.

Unless the mc or slave has been replaced before it's best to replace both of them, and dump the dampener box before bleeding the system.

i agree. check your clutch pedal adjustment also. but if your leaking fluid, then there won't be adequate pressure for the slave to move the fork, and therefore shift. had that problem already, it'd be fine going once in gear but all h3LL getting in gear, especially first. hey, sounds exactly like mine.

anyway, if leaking, replace master and slave (or rebuild slave with rebuild kit), flush the lines, bench bleed, and should be

if the clutch isn't "mushy" or "soft" like the guys up there asked, check your clutch pedal adjustment. it could have gotten loose.
