Clutch work needed. Pull engine, yay or nay?

Car: 1985 Nissan 720

Truck is a 85 720 4x4.
The clutch pedal is hitting the floor and no pressure, possibly a bad plate.
My question is, being a 4x4, is it preferable to pull the engine as some suggest or pull the transmission from the bottom?

Any pointers you could share will be greatly appreciated, I did run a search and could not find info on this particular topic.

In my opinion I think it is easier to drop the transmission.
