Jut go a 1991 240sx shell. Dropped in the motor and transmission from a 1993 240sx. Clutch, flywheel, and slave cylinders are new. The transmission goes in gear and the slave cylinder actuates, just the clutch goes straight to the floor and wont come up by iteself. System was bled and fluid is coming out of the lines. It has sat for a while though and the fluid was dirty. Maybe the master cylinder is bad? It's not leaking anything.

I've searched so long my eyes are about to pop of of their sockets. Any ideas?

I would try bleeding it to see if that help, but it could be a clogged clutch line, bad slave, or a bad master.

We tried bleeding it for a while today. Slave cylinder is new. Maybe it is a clogged line or master.... that fluid was nasty. I'm trying to think of anything else that would cause this.

Same stuff to my car. I replaced the whole clutch and flywheel, plus a new slave cylinder and it won't retract back up without me pullin it back. Tomorrow I'm replacing the clutch master cylinder. I'm going to let you know what happens. Your problem is exactly the same as mine. If it works, I'm going to let you know.

Clogged line and you won't be able to press the pedal at all. Sonde like you still have a big air pocket or a bad clutch master cylinder.

I was kinda thinking the same thing too... I'd be really pissed if I had to take the transmission out again because of something dumb. I have a spare master cylinder from the car I took the manual transmission out of. Hopefully that one will be ok. And yes, let me know how the master cylinder replacement goes! I greatly appreicate the input, guys.

This car has been sitting for like 2 years. The fluid was so nasty it was almost black. It wouldn't surprise me if I found buried treasure in there or something.

Unrelated, but the good news is I have two working headlights now though! Turn signal switch= fail.

Didn't try the damper. I'm going to try the master cylinder first. If that doesn't do it, that damper is just coming out. I found a nice write-up on how to bypass it!

Dont waste your time with anything but the dampener. I garentee you that is it. Just connect the master straight to the slave.

It looks like a lot of people have done the bypass... does this thing malfunction a lot?

the junk dampener goes out. your car is almost 20 years old. mine is a 93, and doesn't bleed all the way. I have mushy pedal feeling after doing a clutch job. my car is in storage because I don't drive it in winter. I still have yet to remove the dampener. I really wish they sell a bypass line instead of bending the hardline.

just wondering if this happens to anyone, my clutch works fine when its cold. after 7 miles, it starts to act up a lot on me. when I press the clutch all the way, I get this whirring sound on my transmission but goes away after pumping my clutch pedal like 5 times. just a thought if anyone has the same problem as mine.I am not really worried since I will be swapping out the motor eventually. hate to throw away a nice KA that only has 109K since it runs really strong and no issue.

conversion line is the same thing, pretty much. why would u wanna keep the hardlines? might as well just run a SS braided line. it makes sense to me, and enjuku has them for $35! thats what im doing soon here.

not trying to thread jack...

OP-

I did the damper thing, and it helped but it didnt fix it.Then i replaced the master cylinder and flushed the whole system with fresh fluid. Worked better. Then adjusted my clutch pedal and BAM!! it works amazing!!

so incase nobody understood my rambling....

Remove DamperReplace Master CylinderFlush SystemAdjust Pedal

Good luck man!

Removing the dampener was the best thing I've done to my car. You get a much stiffer pedal (if you like that).

Alright. So basically I replaced the clutch master cylinder then the mechanic said that it was clogged. I was like WTF? It's like one thing after another. Last time I saw my car earlier today, he was taking out the slave cylinder to clean it and see if it was dirty. That's the last time I saw my car. Dunno what is next. I know that my baby wants to come back home to me and get ready to run d streets. Everybody with a 240, feels my pain. PRAY 4 ME!

Removed the damper today. And then my hardline broke. Meh. To be continued...

Master Cyinder had to be taken out to bench bleed since all the fluid came out.

2 options.1- buy a ss line2- go to local hardware store and buy another hardline for super cheap. Rebend it the way you want.

when I removed my dampener, i broke mine too. I went to autozone and got another hard line for $3. I spend another $10 and got a little pipe bender. I rebent the line and installed. Done.

Yeah my dad has a fluting tool for the lines. I got the same end pieces but they feel a little loose. I have another broken line I might snag the endpiece off of and reflute.

Either that or there's a manual one at pull-a-part. They'll probably charge like $2 for it.

Ah, The joys of having a full 5 spd swap before you buy a manual shell...
