Hi everybody I recently did a clutch swap and j30 vlsd swap on my 93 ka24det, I got everything back together and now my clutch will not disengage,

Master cylinder and slave cylinder- Both operate smoothly, but I'm not positive if one of them isnt working 100% . I'm going to double check this tomorrow, but I doubt its the problem.

The clutch feels normal on extension and retraction of the clutch pedal.

this morning I got underneath the car and removed the dust cover for the pivot fork and watched the operation of the clutch while someone pressed the pedal and from what I can see it is compressing the pressure plate and retracting. to what appears to be normal, I cannot see the whole operation though.

I am using a f1 flywheel that i have used before and not had problems with, i opted to not have it resurfaced professionally as it has not been used long, but I did go over it will fine emery cloth as suggested in the FSM.

My clutch is a centerforce dual friction, brand new right out of the box.

If anyone has any advice before I start to tear the thing down again I would appreciate it very much. thanks

bump,

i dropped the transmission back down and inspected everything, to what appears to be ok.

I will have the flywheel resurfaced but If anyone has any exp with this stuff I would appreciate the help.

Also do you think it would matter if I used a s13/s14 Throw out bearing on a s14 transmission?

Even so I don't think it would cause the problem.

This sounds stupid, but you didn't install the clutch face backwards, right?

Haha ya I installed it the right way, the wierd thing is though that the center portion of the disc where the splines are sticks out more, I'm going to guess about 3/8 inch, but its not in front of me so I do not know.

I'm going to have the flywheel resurfaced and the pilot bushing replaced again and see what happens, but its been waaayyy to cold to actually get something done.

throw out bearing should be the same as far as not disengaging not sure what can cause that. did you remove the clutch block?

Ya its a vert it never had a clutch block.

I'm thinking that I was right, about the binding and possibly to much marcel on the clutch.

i did a little test setup on the drill press with an extra TO bearing and the clutch pressure plate to make sure it was working properly, and I'm good.

Going to put everything back together tomorrow, this time I'm going to use lubriplate instead of bearing grease...
