okay so at the beginning of the week i had my buddy install a street strip clutch from ACT. now i am having some problems. okay so i went through a break in period of nearly 100 miles babying it and crap. and then one night my gf's bro and i went down his dead end street and romped on our cars in a straight line no sideways bull. he pulled away in his car and left me behind. heres where the problems start.

Okay so as im giving it gas the rpms soar but no acceleration(if there is any its not much). sounds like a bad clutch, but its brand new.

so the next morning i go out to try and diagnose, start the car and pull away with no problems. so i downshift all the way to first cuz cars were slowly moving from a red light turned green. as i let out the clutch all of a sudden the same shat. I continue to drive with abnormally high revs and almost no power trying to find a safe place to stop.

So i stop turn the car off let it cool off for a while to see if the car would do what it did overnight the previous night, but to no avail. i start the car and i really cant even get it into gear.

Now i remember something m gf's bro told me about bad pressure plates he said if u shift into fifth and let the clutch out and u dont stall theres a problem with the pressure plate. i dont know how much truth to that there is but i did it and didnt stall.

At this point i call AAA. the guy comes and i tell him i really cant even get it into gear. he says oh.... thats weir i got it into gear no problem. so i say f*** this im not going through this anymore just tow it.

Now here i sit. my gf's bro and his friend (both mechanics) took my car and drove away in a reasonably reserved fashion and i heard no problems.

They think there is a problem with the adjustment but i dont know. has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have any ideas on what is happening.

im having the same problem in my sr. i can drive normally in the streets but if i go full throttle, the clutch just slips. the clutch is brand new also. if i put it into fifth at 30mph and full throttle it will slowly accelerate but once i get around 2.5-3rpm it just revs no acceleration. this sunday ima just switch the preassure plate with my stock one and i will let you know if it helped.

How much free play do you have?

Hmm, sounds like slipping clutch when it gets hot. Did you resurface the flywheel and make sure you cleaned it with brake cleaner before you reinstalled it? You have to make sure no residues are left on or it will slip.
It is odd that its an intermittent problem though.
As said above, you should check your free play and make sure that it isn't set so that with the clutch peddle out all the way, it's not engaging the clutch. Also, had you bled the clutch system?

When you are pushing hi revs in first gear and aren't getting any power. That's exactly what happened to me when I had to replace my clutch because it was burnt out.

well because there were like four people with the same problem. my buddies said it was just too far adjusted . and because it was wrong the reason why i wasnt moving was because the clutch was glazing over because there was constant pressure on the clutch (kinda pissed i burnt off a bit of my effing 400 dollar clutch but now all is good

So it was because the clutch pedal wasn't adjusted correctly after install?

took down the transmission and the problem seems to be in the throwout bearing, it was placed wrong and wasnt giving the pressure it should be. ill let you guys know how it runs.
