Well in my endeavor to make enough posts to have an avatar, I'll tell ya what I know. 1. Turbo, make sure you have good ignition and fuel management. 2. Clutch get something that can handle the power, but be careful about getting a clutch that's too aggressive for daily driving.

and now to take up space :wiggle ooo...dance smiley dance......

NOOOOO Pleaaaase dont.

NO StarNO Centerforce Dual friction

Star-Star clutches are pretty new to the 240 aftermarket...after seeing one when they first came out, i was like there is no way i would put this fragile thing in my car. People started raving about them, because they are affordable, and 'have holding power'....its only been a year or less, and stories of glazed and burnt out clutches are popping up all over the place. From my experience 1/2 of the people that I KNOW (not everyone) had a problem with their Star... Its a 'decent' street clutch, has a nice soft pedal, and definitly has to be broken in VERY easily for atleast 500 miles, with out really driving in boost (which isnt easy when you get your new SR out of the shop) Which is one reason i dont recommend them.

Centerforce DF-I konw people who love them. I know people who sell them. I have had 2. The one on my SR lasted me 2 days (20 miles). Glazed up and was garbage. I know people who have had them for 2 years, with no problems. I know people who blew the springs right out w/in an hour. They are heavier than other clutches. They also have to be broken in VERY easily for 500 miles atleast. Which is why i dont recommend them.

They are both pretty affordable clutches.

ACT-I have had 2. A little stiffer of a pedal feel, and a good over all clutch. The street clutches do get burnt out with a lot of track racing and drifting, but has a good life. Does have to be broken in.

RPS turbo clutches- Great Clutch, a little more pricy than the others, but has great holding power.

WHAT do i recommend?Well this is all based on driving styles and preference. I like to drive hard, and i drag race, so i expect a lot from my clutch (and i like to drift) I dont want anything thats gonna start to slip on me.

Therefor:I recommend an IRON Clutch with a Sprung hub (unsprung hub will be very harsh). I got mine from Clutch Specialies in SoCal. They have a website. They are NOT extremely expensive, like youll find in some of the higher (6 puck) clutches from ACT and RPS. They hold amazing, is harsh though, but i like that. NO BREAK in period. I even took mine to the track the next day after installing it. THEY work better when heated. Alll the other clutches start to glaze and slip when they get over heated, but IRON clutches actually grab better. LIke i said it is preference, and driving style, and i dont mind a hard pedal, and a harsh clutch, i loooove it actually.

but i do not recommend Star clutches. to anyone...i pretty much recommend Iron clutches to everyone....they are the way a lot of people are leaning when they get clutches in turbo cars now adays.

good luck!

yesI even had enjukyu ask me why i didnt like star, because he hadnt had bad experiences (plus he sells them, lol), and i see more and more problems popping up... I dont think its necessarily 'bad', but that there are better options out there for relatively the same money...and its a b**** to change out a clutch....if you have patience to break it in 500 miles, then maybe you'll have no problem, but seems liek most people dont have that patience....wow, im famous : )

Still thats to much... a Stage 2 would easily be enough for that application..

I know in the SCC article about the SR swap, they said they got a JWT Maxima clutch. I am looking for some other options that may be cheaper. Any suggestions on clutches for the SR would be welcome as I am looking to spend as little as possible.

How much do they weigh/cost?:help

I was looking at RPS but I don't have the cash right now. Maybe an ACT stage 2. I definetly plan to get some drifting under my belt if the swap goes well...
