ACT clutches are great but I'm partial to ClutchMasters. You see when I bought my 240 , the owner informed me that it had a Clucthmasters stage 3 carbon kevlar disc. He said he didn't know if it was still good. Well upon putting brand new tires on I found out that the clutch very much indeed "GOOD"!! I learned I could scratch 1st , 2nd , 3rd AND!! 4TH gear!!! I was impressed. I've never driven a car that could chirp 4th gear. Heck it even chirps 5th when I mishift out of 2nd lol. So here I am almost two years (in august) later, I went drag racing on friday. I made about 12 passes all consistent within 15.0 - 15.5 , and every pass I scratched second and third with no slippage. Same clucth. I'm sold.
So now my trans is going. I got a used one on the side already ($100). My friends won't help me put it in till I get a new clutch. Even though I swear by my old one . They say " No , your going to open it up and it is going to look mangled. Change It , or don't waste our time!!!"
I'm going to get a lightweight flywheel too. The reason for this thread is because I've seen copper metallic clutches eat the heat sheild off lightweight flywheels. I want to know if anyone's had or heard of a similar problem.
Ok here are my two choices - stage 3 - which I love , especially the stock pedal feel Or - stage 4 - copper metallic , no burn , harsher , but more holding power. Not stage 5 that is full race unsprung center. thanks for the response MainEvent.
