Okay, I drive a 1990 240sx. Yesterday I went to NAPA for some seafoam. When I got back in my car, I noticed the clutch was pushed pretty far down, but it would still engage, so I didn't think anything of it. I moved the car a little distant from the building, ran the seafoam, and when I went to leave, the clutch was all the way down; no way of engaging it at all. Checked the CMC, it was empty. Topped it off, pumped the clutch a few times, and got some pressure back. Driving down the road, I started losing pressure again, until finally it wouldn't engage any more. I added some more fluid, but as it was dark, I couldn't tell it was leaking somewhere; when I pushed the car into a parking lot there was a nice puddle underneath. I'm VERY new to working with cars, so when you're talking about slave cylinders and all, I need pretty clear direction. Can anyone give me some troubleshooting steps? Thanks.

Searching on the forums some more, I'm going to check out the tutorial on rebuilding the CMC; I'm still looking for any suggestions though. Thanks guys

You should be able to see where the fluid is leaking from, and it sounds like it is the slave cylinder. You can replace fairly easily and bleed the Air out. to slow the fluid draining fill up the master cylinder and put a large piece of plastic under the cap to prevent air entering.undo the slave cylinder and hydraulic hose.Replace new cylinder. there will also be instruction with the re-built cylinder.replace hydraulic hose. remove plastic and refill, bleed new cylinder. Its not that difficult to repair a slave cylinder using a kit with new seals if you decide to save money and go that way.
