Hi
I have a ticking coming from what sounded like under the hood.I took to a local garage and they told me that my release bearing is what is making the ticking noise. They told me it would be cheaper for me to buy a used transmission and put that in, instead of correcting the problem with my transmission. Then i got a little curious and did alittle research and found out that the release bearing is a part of my clutch and not the transmission as a whole. So does anyone know what would be the better option for me?I drive a 1889 240sx sohc.

Just replacethe release bearing, its a $20 part that should take about 2 hours to install. They go out about the same rate as clutches do, and most clutch kits include them...

No problem. BTW, if you have an Advance Auto nearby, I believe they sell replacement clutch kits with Clutch Disc, Release bearing, pilot bushing, and pressure plate for $100+tax
